A Few Great Christmas Tree Ornament Tips for 2015

This 2015 promises to be one of the most magically festive times in Salt Lake City, and we have no doubt that you and your family are getting into the spirit in preparation for the festivities. If you’ve decided to decorate your tree with lights, tinsel, or gifts this year – you’ll undoubtedly want to consider the ornaments that you want to feature prominently. We love the idea of making our own Christmas decorations and ornaments, and we wanted to share our thoughts with you in time for Christmas!

Making and Cleaning Glass Ornaments

Is there anything more stylish than a glass bauble, or set of glass decorations in general? Not only do they look good, but they’re also a fantastic way to define a classy atmosphere. Making glass isn’t easy, but you could always looking in to glass blowing if you’re keen to give it a shot. Alternatively, you can enhance the look of your glass bulbs and current decorations by cleaning them with a microfiber cloth to remove fingerprints and other signs of dirt.

Setting the Mood with Your Lights

We’ve all heard the horror stories relating to fires at Christmas, so we’d never advise you to place active candles on your tree – but that doesn’t mean that you can’t take advantage of false equivalents. They’re very affordable and can be purchased as part of a wire-set (typically with a minimum of 20 on each cable), or as individuals. Whichever you decide, they’ll set the mood for you without even trying!

Creating Ornaments during Family Time

If you have kids, then you’ll already know how much they love to spend time with you. What better way to encourage an enjoyable atmosphere, whilst enjoying some family time, than by creating your very own ornaments together? Wood, clay and cardboard are all great options – just be sure to keep a pot of PVA glue to hand and a pack of wet wipes should the glue application go a little awry.

Matching Your Color Scheme

With your lights, ornaments and decorations placed, what can you do if your favorite parts are lost within the bombardment of color and light? That’s where a matching color scheme comes in handy – and this alone is why so many people choose to scrap their current décor in favour of a new scheme. Categorize your ornaments, lights and accessories by color or style and then apply them one at a time. Try to avoid overlapping lights and tinsel as they’ll look much better on their own. Instead, arrange everything neatly, space your decorations out and don’t switch your lights on until it’s all in place – that will allow everyone to stare in shock and awe at the same time.

These are just a few tips, and you can find plenty more cleaning tips within our other blog posts. We hope that you have a fantastic Festive season and we wish you the best of luck for the New Year!
